Panasonic P2 Workflow

I'm starting a project using P2 HD files which I haven't worked with before. I was wondering if there's any pitfalls I should be aware of before I get started. I'm importing everything overnight tonight into FCP (version 5). I used the import Panasonic P2 option and setup an import queue with the interface (not sure what its called) that pops up.

The footage is all green screen. I was planning on cutting it all in FCP at native res of 1080i 60 and then doing the keying/compositing in AE (probably with a little back and forth between applications). The final product will be a DVD.

The other question I had is if I should keep it all HD and then just convert if for SD when its time to burn the DVD?

Or is there some way I should convert it before I even get started?

Any suggestions would help. The timeline on the project is very tight, so I need to work as efficiently as possible.

Thanks for any advice/answers to this post.

First off, here are two tutorials. The first if for FCP 5.0.4, and the second for FCP 6, that might also relate to FCP 5.1.4

Work at full HD res, and when it is time to convert to DVD, just do what you'd typically do...export a file to bring into Compressor and Compressor will do what needs to be done.
