ProRes 422 codec

Is there a ProRes 422 codec that we can load into our Macs that DON'T have Final Cut. Right now we can't view any movies from Final Cut using that codec on a machine that doesn't have Final Cut....

thanks,

No, just like DVCPRO-HD it has to be installed.

I'm surprised someone has not found a way to
copy the necessary files to another system to
at least enable playback of the codec in a non fcp mac.

The official answer to that is NO, but I've wondered myself what would happen if you take the Quicktime component from a Mac that has the ProRes422 codec and transferred it to a Mac that doesn't.

I'm not saying to do this - I'm just wondering OUT LOUD if that would work.

You can use the separate QmasterNode installer thats on the Final Cut Studio DVD (in the extras folder).
ProRes and the rest of FCP standard codecses are installed with it.

[Paul Escandon] " I'm just wondering OUT LOUD if that would work. "

did not work with DVCPROHD, doubt it will work with ProRes.

Just move the Quicktime Component.
Root/Library/Quicktime/AppleProRes422.component

You probably have to have QT 7.3 on the new computer, but yeah it works.
