Onlining media with a timecode that crosses midnight
on Aug 9, 2011 at 1:41:26 am

I shot a 1.5hr sports event on two HMC-40s capturing to SD cards.

I captured these as Pro Res Proxy, multi-clipped, did my offline edit and am now ready to go online.

The trouble is that one of my cameras started with a TC of 23:50:00:00 and so the TC crosses midnight.

When I try to online to Pro Res LT I get an "unknown error whilst trying to reconnect media".

I could resolve the problem by capturing the entire 1.5hr clip in LT, but I'd prefer not to.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know I can change TC within FCP, but won't this just result in capturing incorrect clips from the SD cards when I online?

Is there anyway to change the TC of an AVCHD clip before bringing it into FCP?

Go to my site and get a copy of FCP reconnect.
No, it won't help you in this situation, but the manual has tons of info on under what conditions FCP relinks in what way.

Short possible solution:
Remove the TC from the proxy clip, or set it to a value so it has no overlap with the original. FCP will relink based on filename / relative offset, and it will be correct.

(but in the time you waited for this answer you could have ingested the entire clip, media managed to trim and be done with it...)
