Editing Audio Workflow Question
on Nov 24, 2010 at 11:13:32 pm

I am new to FC and in the process of editing a 5 camera Pro Res project. The master audio was recorded seprately (wave file with 8 separate audio/mic tracks). I have completed the video edit and need to apply the matching audio clips/mics in the timeline. All video and audio was recorded with timecode.

My current workflow:
1. Select video clip in timeline and get timecode and duration info
2. ID and select wave file(browser)that has matching timecode info
3. ID track that has the matching time code
4. Apply in and outs to wav clip (timecode & duration)
5. select the correct track for character (8 tabs in viewer window)
6. Overwrite to separate audio track in timeline

Questions:
1. Is there a way to filter or define which tab has focus in viewer window when I open wave file, currently last tab of 8 has focus? I have to remember every time I open the wave file to select the correct tab for character/mic I am working with

2. When entering time code info, FC will not allow me to paste a copied timecode into the TC window in viewer, is there a workaround?

3. Is there a better workflow for this task?

You messed up. You need to marry the audio to the video clips BEFORE you begin any editing. Not after. Now you have to go through the cut and replace the audio shot by shot.

Thanks Shane, that will be really helpful for the next 12 episodes.

Ouch! As Shane said........
If you value your time you could spend a few bucks and automate this with Titan
or Conformalizer
