So we've had a problem for the past few months with our 2007 Mac Pro tower. Whenever we render out a file from FCP/ Compressor/ Quicktime we get what appear to be old school tape hits that look like green dashes across the video.
This issue used to appear on Safari if you opened up the "Top Sites" tab. We recently took the computer to Apple as it is under warranty until November and they replaced the graphics card (ATI 4800) with a new one (Nvidia 8800). This only solved the Safari problem, which really isn't a big deal as we're a video company.
It should also be noted that after looking into this further, we noticed that we did not get any render issues out of any of the Adobe applications. After Effects, Media Encoder, and the like, all rendered without issue. So it seems that the problem lies somewhere in the coding of the Apple software (FCP, QT, Compressor) and the communication with the hardware.
Has anyone else experienced this or know of a solution? We have a call in to Apple, but we'd like to not be down a computer for a week or more with all the work we have flowing through the lines.
Thanks in advance!
