Correcting fluorescent/natual light contrast in post
on Feb 25, 2010 at 7:18:51 pm

I had to get interviews on the fly with no field lights. Some of these interviews were in small rooms with bright fluorescent lights with sunlight streaming in. Looking at the footage, it fades in and out drastically to different color balances... horrible.

Rookie mistake, I know. Is there any way to even this out in post? I'm looking at my only option as desaturating footage and go for b&w but even that way ranges in the contrast and brightness.

Any input greatly appreciated.

You can key frame color correction using the 3-way CC, but a better way is to Cut the video using the blade tool. CC the florescent parts that are the worst to get them somewhat in the proper gamut, then throw dissolves in between the cuts you've made to smooth out the shifts.
