I might be making this more complicated than it should be but,
We are editing a film that was shot with P2 cards. Some of the footage was missing file structures (and we did not have the backup cards) so we had to buy a software that could read straight .mxf in final cut (we chose Calibrated for it's price, and it worked fine)
Without really thinking about it we started editing in straight .mxf and did not convert.
We are at a point now where we would like to color correct and tweak sound.
Does anyone know if it's possible to export all the footage used in the sequence and still maintain the edits we have made . As apposed to exporting all the footage to a FCPstudio friendly format that we would then have to re-edit.(not just exporting the sequence as a quicktime file, we would still like flexibility to make changes)
It would also be good if we could export the footage anyway so that we can edit on a computer that doesn't have calibrated installed on it.
Also what format is best to export to, to maintain optimum quality.
We encountered the same issue.
As an Apple Final Cut Studio Solutions Partner we completely documented and reported it. We are under NDA so I can't share more about this part but we have a solution that already works today with all current releases of Color. You might understand that we can only share this with customers since high quality support is part of our high quality product.
