SAFARI kernal panics, how to fix?

Running OS 10.6.8 and not changing it. Safari version is 5.1.10 and is suddenly gone unstable with kernal panics. Can't upgrade Safari too far because that would entail OS upgrade. Advice?

Is this some kind of audio suite or something where you want to lock it in time forever? Safari really didn't do anything that amazing for Snow Leopard, so why not just switch to Chrome or Firefox?

I will switch if I can't fix it. But it seems like it might be something simple, and I hate rebuilding bookmarks and toolbars, etc. even with auto import.

Yes, the OS and FCP7/ FCS3 suite is going to be frozen in amber on this system, LOL.

So, what can/should I do to fix this install of Safari?

My memory of SL is very vague but Tyler might be on the right path. It couldn't hurt to install chrome or firefox, delete safari, redownload safari, and then see if it's good to go. If you're running any extensions like adblock, maybe delete/reinstall them all as well.

Are you using the Flash plugin? If yes, try uninstalling it and reinstalling it. If no, then try downloading an earlier version of Safari and installing that and just don't update to 5.1.10.
