I just recently "rebuilt" my MacPro from the ground up (except for RAM) Here are the deails....
I replaced the AMD video card with a Quadro K5000, installed a AJA Kona 3 to replace the DeckLink and replaced the hard drives as follows:
480GB Intel SSD (boot)
256GB Intel SSD (Swap & Cache)
2X 480GB Intel SSD (disk utility RAID 0)
I built this machine as a Photoshop machine that serves double duty as a Premiere Pro / After Effects box. Most of my video projects run under 20 minutes so the 900GB Video RAID is plenty big enough when you factor in the cache drive. Plus it blazing fast. Boot times are now non-existent with the SSD running as the "Macintosh HD"
All templates, photos, media and other things are kept on an external 2TB drive, while long term storage and project backups are kept on another 2TB drive.
A 4TB time machine disk backs up everything.
Does anybody see anything that I can improve upon or do differently? It works well for me now, but I would like some input.
