Not sure the best area to post this? I have a 2009 Mac Pro 8 core 2.26, with 26 gigs ram, and stock video card. My question is with regards to video card upgrade. I'm using final cut studio 3, adobe cs5 after effects, photoshop, and premier (have the whole master lass suite, but those are the most used), and as of right now blender. I hope to add maya in the future also.

Been messing with some stuff in blender lately, and allows for gpu rendering. My current video card isn't compatible with this. I'm wonder about upgrade options? Will a 5870 Get me what I need? Should I be looking at the quadro 4000? Other options? Would like to hear from those of you out there, what you've done for use with these programs?

Thank you as always for your time and attention,
Jeff

Look at nVidia cards and see which is supported for use with your software (mercury playback engine support: http://www.adobe.com/products/premiere/tech-specs.html)

Before you go spend a grip of cash, check out these video card benchmarks: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
