Hello,

I am trying to upgrade my MAC operating system from Tiger (10.4.11) to Leopard or Snow Leopard (if compatible with my current computer specs.)

TECH SPECS:
I have a MacBook Pro
10.4.11
2.16GHz Intel Core Duo
1 GB 667MHz RAM

Would I be able to upgrade to 10.5 or even 10.6 with these specs? If so, would it slow my computer down considerably?

Lastly, what would be the best way to go about upgrading the system? Would it be possible to get a step by step guide to the upgrade installation?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

Best,
Nick

The 1 GB of RAM will kill your speed. That's barely enough to boot with (IMHO). I would think really hard about whether to spend money to upgrade an old system or use the money (plus the money you get for selling your old Macbook Pro) to purchase a new one.

Hi Nick,

I agree that buying a new mac would be a good idea however, I have a 4 year old mini mac that has 1GB ram and I recently upgraded that to Leopard 10.5. It isn't the fastest thing in the world but I wouldn't call it snail slow either.

Thanks,

Ash
