Temporarily disable keyboard / mouse for shoot?
on Jul 23, 2010 at 10:00:41 pm

Hi

I've got a shoot coming up in which I'll need several macs to display green screen for chroma keying at a later stage.

I'm a little concerned that the actors are going to be hammering away on the keys, disabling any programs diplaying my green images. Is there anyway to temporarily disable the keyboard and mouse? Or any software anyone's aware of?

Furthermore, I was planning displaying the green using a .bmp image opened in quicktime & then using the fit to screen function.

Is there a better way of doing this?

Thanks

Alex

hello...

any reason as to why you can't just temporarily unplug them?

Yup just unplug them. Or if they are wireless, just turn them off or take out the batteries.

Thanks for the replies.

The thought of unplugging the keyboards had crossed my mind.

However a couple of the macs are mac book pros, which as I'm sure you're aware have a built in keyboard.

I've found a solution to the problem if anyone else is interested. There's a piece of software called plainview - http://www.barbariangroup.com/software/plainview which can display fullscreen images with a kiosk mode that locks out all user input unless a specif key combination is entered.

Thanks for the thoughts.

Alex
