Airport scanning?

I just updated to Leopard and I'm already hating it.

My airport seems to be randomly scanning for other networks and periodically turns the airport off. I can be in the middle of a post and I get the connection turned off.

I've already tried the "safe" boot, regular boot suggestion that I found over at apple.com.

Anyone else have this problem? Found a solution? Some obsure button to click to stay on line and tell the computer not to be scanning for other grass?

The other machines on the network aren't experiencing problems. Just my mac. (and I never had this problem before Leopard.)

looks like there was an update to fix this issue that I hadn't downloaded yet.

So, hopefully, that will fix it.

Hi Kathlyn, any joy?

My MacBook is still doing it after all updates and it seems to get worse. It used to have a bad habit of logging onto one of my neighbour's network without me knowing - and frustratingly, his router seemed to work just fine! But even his is now dropping off.

It seems that the longer the router is on the list, the flakier it becomes.

You know, I sold my last MacBook for a very similar problem and now, a new laptop and a year later and the same dramas.

Cheers
Bettsy

I've not had a single drop off since upgrading to the fix. Did you try the "safe boot" trick suggested by apple support? It didn't work for me, but perhaps it would work for you.

I know it drove me nuts while it was happening to me. MacLife said it was a particular problem with the Air books.

Now, if I could just figure out how to schedule my backups for times when I'm not at the machine...
