By installing Safari Beta 3 does that overwrite the Safari 2.0.4 that comes with Tiger?
or can you have two seperate versions of Safari?

Thanks

Yes it douse over right the previous version of safari.

If you really must keep it then move the old file out of the application folder and then install the beta. Just make sure that you rename the old version before moving it back to the apps folder.

However I see no reason that you need the old one the Safari 3 Beta ROCKS.

Please explain why you think it ROCKS. What does it do better or different than the older version.

Thanks for the info.

Most people wont be able to tell a difference, but it is a bit quicker, Also the way the search feature works in the new version is GREAT.

There are some issues with the MAIL APP after installing SAFARI 3,
Have a look at the apple discussions.
For now, uless you "have to" IMHO - don't install 3.

Lucky you then,
I am one of many for whom the mail plays up while Forwarding a message with an attachment. The attachment appears in the FWD, but not the message text itself.
I am not dissing the Beta, but thinking back I wouldn't have installed it.
Better wait for the next update.

By using the uninstall utility that is in the Safari 3 Beta .dmg folder, you can roll back to the previous version.

[Alan Okey] "By using the uninstall utility that is in the Safari 3 Beta .dmg folder, you can roll back to the previous version"

Hasn't helped. We tried Safari 3, it kept crashing on a new Intel MBP. The machine also opens the applications window every time we power up the machine, which it never did before. Nothing can get rid of that. Of course, all the other issues with other programs reported in 3 still remain...

Removing 3 and going back to 2 does not eliminate that window opening. The autofill option also no longer works, so we have to type everything in manually in web forms now. Nice.
