Comparing light quality
on Mar 13, 2019 at 1:57:28 am

Is it possible to compare quality of lighting fixtures (think CRI) using available tools in Premiere Pro like the vectorscope (or RGB parade?)? For a standard basis of comparison, I'm thinking of shooting a Datacolor Color Checkr 24 at noon time. And then I'll shoot the color chart again with the artificial lights I'd like to compare it to. I'm not expecting to see actual CRI values but just a rough judgement of color rendering. What do you think? Many thanks in advance.

How will you address white balance?

For uniformity between the shots, I'll use the same method for both. I'll balance them in camera (with my GH5) using the back side of the chart (neutral gray). Hmmm.... actually, if the white balance on one of the shots with artificial light looks a bit off, that may already be an indication of poor CRI. What do you think? Is this correct?
