Transcoding Prores 422 HQ to DNXHD 220/185

Hi All,

I'm new to this I really need help!

I have 12TB worth of footage, in Prores422HQ and XDCAM format,

I need to send them to England for edit. However the editor uses Avid 5.5..

He asked if I could have the footages converted to DNXHD 220.

I've looked literally EVERYWHERE and cannot find the answer.... I'm very new and have no idea about the technicals.

Can someone PLEASE provide me a straight forward answer as to which program do I use to transcode everything?

I just downloaded a 30-days trial version of Avid 5.5.. will that let me transcode?

Please help.. a million thanks!!!

Hey Jacky,

I'm not sure why the editor would need you to transcode the footage for them. You should be able to take all the Pro Res footage on a drive, and send it to the editor. If they are working on an older Windows machine, they would just need the Pro Res Windows QT codec, and then then could simply import at the desired resolution. I.E. - If you're sending them 1080 23.98 Pro Res footage, they can import at DNX HD 115 or 175 depending on what quality they want to work in, or i'm pretty sure with v5.5 they could just AMA link to the footage in a matching project, and be up and running in minutes, instead of waiting for the long imports. Their choice. Hope this helps.
