News: HP Streamlines Remote Content Creation, Solves Storage Bottleneck with Industry First Offerings
(Palo Alto, California--April 7, 2014) HP today announced two workstation-industry firsts, updates to its virtual workstation and real-time collaboration software to enable remote workstation productivity from a Windows 8 tablet and a solution to solve the storage bottleneck for customers creating large data files.
HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS) 7.0 enables real-time collaboration between multiple users simultaneously, delivering workstation-class productivity with little to no loss of performance. By turning swipes into hot keys, gestures into control keys and pinches into zooms—along with a precision onscreen mouse that uses the entire screen as a track pad—HP RGS 7.0 increases productivity for remote users of touch PCs or Windows 8 tablets, including the new HP ElitePad 1000.
HP Z Turbo Drive is the first cost-effective PCIe-based SSD (Solid State Drive) for desktop workstations, allowing users to access up to twice the performance at a cost similar to today’s standard SATA SSD. HP Z Turbo Drives reduce boot up, calculation and graphics response times—even with 4K video—and revolutionizes how HP Z Workstations handle large files.
“The industry’s leading customers rely on HP to deliver compelling end-to-end solutions to address the most challenging problems and the changing workforce,” said Jim Zafarana, vice president and general manager, Commercial Solutions Business Unit, HP. “RGS 7 is a first of its kind, defining a new future for remote workstation productivity from a tablet, while Z Turbo Drive is the first solution of its kind to solve the storage bottleneck.”
HP RGS 7.0: High-powered collaboration
HP RGS is remote desktop software that offers a different way for workstation users to get the job done, enabling real-time collaboration between multiple users simultaneously and providing remote access to a workstation with little to no loss of performance. RGS enables animators, designers and engineers to work and collaborate more efficiently across geographies by connecting them to their high-powered workstations, wherever they may be.
HP RGS has unique features developed specifically for workstation users and is the only remote software protocol in the workstation market that allows users to host interactive collaboration sessions. HP RGS delivers the fastest response time of any workstation-class remote software protocol and supports Linux applications. And with HP Velocity 2.1 bundled with RGS, the connection stays live even in poor network conditions.
HP Z Turbo Drives: Performance that streamlines workflows
HP Z Turbo Drive offers the fastest storage performance in its class and at a price comparable to solutions with less than one-third the speed. It uses industry-standard PCIe protocol to deliver blazingly fast speed. Z Turbo Drive is the most cost-effective way to gain storage speed for HP Z Desktop Workstations.

(1) Internet access required. Performance dependent on network latency and image frame content. Match display layout not supported on Linux. Resolution matching on Linux may require additional X-server setup.
(2) For storage drives, GB = 1 billion bytes TB = 1 trillion bytes. Actual formatted capacity is less. Up to 20 GB of disk is reserved for system recovery software.
