3D Flag Question
on Dec 27, 2018 at 9:33:28 pm

I'm trying to create a flag in 4K but it is very pixelated. My original artwork is very big. Also I try it in vector and it is still very pixelated (even if I'm using Continuesly Raster). Does anyone know how to create flag that is not really pixelated?

Check your Solid settings. The size of the solid determines the resolution of 3D Flag's canvas. So even if you have a high resolution input image the solid size is what sets the final rendering.

Also make sure you are using the Ray Tracer, not the Open GL renderer to get the best results.

If you are viewing at 25%, do a sanity check and change to 100% to make sure the jaggies aren't an artifact of AE down sampling the image.

Thanks for your help. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I tried those things you are mentioning, but it still looks pixelated at 100%.

Are there any other things you would recommend? What size of vector file would you use for file ending in 4K?

No problem. Send your project file to support at zaxwerks.com and I'll take a look.
Best,

got the files... you have Lock Flag Image turned on. This setting is preventing your texture from loading completely. Uncheck this setting and you'll see the image turn crystal clear. Once the image has loaded completely you can then lock the flag image and it will render faster when you change frames. However, it's best not to have the image locked during final rendering just in case you get low on RAM and 3D flag doesn't release it.

Hope that helps,
Zax
