I have a spinning basketball with text in front. I would like to have the text cast a shadow of itself on the basketball. I've tried implementing what I have read but no luck. Can I cast the text as a shadow on the ball?
Sure, to have the text cast a shadow onto the text, set up the light so that it is in front of the text and the basketball, and be sure the light has "Casts Shadows" applied. Then, when you do a test render (holding down the Ctrl/Cmd) key, you should be able to see the shadows.
