Is there any way to get my ProAnimator to show a shadow of the objects/text I am creating?

Yes, Just switch to light mode (Sun button), select the light you want and check the "Shadow Casting" box. Be aware though that Shadows will slow down your renders especially if you increase the shadow softness and shadow quality that is located in the User Prefs menu.

Okay, I see the box you're talking about, I lifted my text up off the "floor', adjusted the lights to be directly overhead, turned the intensity of the light up, increased the darkness of the shadow....still no shadow. I'm just playing around here trying to see what it will and will not do and so far it will not do a shadow.

Nate, are you trying to cast shadows on a AE layer? If so this doesn't work.

Your plane needs to reside inside of Invigorator/ProAnimator.

Does this help?

Serge

I am using the stand-alone version of ProAnimator.

Hi,

I just had a look at your project. You couldn't see any shadows as you didn't have an object you could cast shadows on in your project.

The grid is not an object and can't receive shadows. You need to create a primitive and change it from the default sphere to a plane. You then rotate your plane to 90 degrees and place it bellow your text.

Salut,
Serge

Sorry, I don't mean to sound dense, but I can't find any information regarding this in the manual...how do you change the sphere to a plane???

-Select your object (Sphere)
-Click on the Object tab. You will find a menu that says "Sphere". When you open this menu you will find all the primitives listed.

I got it to work....seemed to be something to do with the material of the table I was creating. I still cant seem to make a table where the light falls off at some point though?? I can see the table for infinity. is there a way to make like a spotlight so you dont see the table forever.

i have been able to do this in AE but no invig..... in AE you just turm the ambient light down below 5 and make the table at least 5000x5000 make sure you dont have the intensity of your spots to high or place them to high above table or they will illuminate far off into the distance.
