Hi,
I've been using Invigorator a few days and am enjoying it.
I export out of Max using PolyTrans in the Lightwave format.
I just realized why shadows that are cast by objects on to other objects in the scene are moving when I rotate the model.
The lights are stationary so the shadow casting changes as the model rotates.
I don't see any other way to rotate the scene uniformly other than having the whole model rotate using the Set rotational values.
Is there a way to have the lights follow with the rotating model so the shadows don't change in the scene?

Thanks for any help,
Don

Hi Don,

Which version of Invigorator are you using - Classic or Pro?

Invigorator's internal lights are not animatable. Depending on the movement you desire, you may be able to move the camera rather than the set.

Another option: Choose the use comp lights and camera checkboxes. The abilty of Invigorator sets to track 3D AE layers (new in Pro version 4.0) should give you more than enough power and flexibilty.

Jon,
I'm using Invigorator Pro 4.05 and AE 6.5.
I will try using the comp lights and camera and let you know how it goes.
I had tried using the comp lights previously
and it seemed the shadow quality was less than using the native Invigorator lighting,
but I'll see how it goes.

Thanks for thee response,
Don

Well, moving the AE camera isn't good, it treats the Invigorator layer as 2D.

And using the comp lights treats the Invigorator model as 2D as well.
I want the shadowing of the model to be cast upon it self (all the objects shadows interact as with the Invigorator lights).

Is there no way to edit a message after it's posted or is it necessary
to create a new one each time?

Ok, after some experimenting I found that while rotating the native camera the value
that needs to be used for the effect I am looking for is the camera tumble left.
This creates the uniform rotating look by using the camera instead of the model rotation,
though I really want the scene to rotate moving left in appearance.
Seems this should be easy just found going the other way worked right away and the other didn't.
Just need to get the two values set up.

A test render here:

I know I can soften the shadows more than are seen in the animation (setting at 3),
but as can be seen on the lit side of the barn, the antialiasing could use some
further refining, even though I have the antialiasing set at 5x5+1.5, which I assume is the highest setting.
