Media 100 export for color grading

I have a feature doc (95 mins) which is now ready for color grading from an outside professional grader. They have asked me if I have the ability to disable the text layer and export a textless version? They asked me if I used Media 100 or Boris for titles. Since I'm using 2.15 suite, I assume its Boris. How can I export this for color grading and what do I need to do? He also has asked me if I could export a flattened EDL that would be used to notch a long play quicktime. How do you export a flattened DL?

Did you solve these issues?

I assume by flattened EDL, they mean just one video track.
I am merely guessing though - don't be afraid to ask them what they mean.
An EDL export should be possible from Media 100, =), via File->Print to EDL.
Although Media 100 has a really good export to After Effects XML option, and some Final Cut Pro 7 XML export options too - so do ask them which format they may prefer, =).

Exporting a textless version should be possible too, assuming any text you've added, was added to the graphics layers. You can mute any tracks, including video tracks - just by clicking the track name (i.e. v or v1, v2, v3, etc) and the entire track will turn grey and no longer play back. When you want the track unmuted again - just click it again.

So if your video was on v, and your text was on v1,
you could mute track v1 by clicking (v1) on the left of the program,
and then you could export via File->Export->File... as usual, =).

There may be other ways to do it too (you could copy and paste everything apart from the text to a new program for example), this is just the first thing that sprung to my mind.
Others may have other suggestions,
and perhaps in the last few months you've found your own way to do what you want too?
If so, do post back here, so others can benefit from your experience, =).

Yours,
Andrew.

Great Tutorial Andrew! I agree with all your suggestions, it would be nice to hear how Joseph got on with it.

If you are not sure, just send a sample of the project (small section) to the colorist, following the instructions Andrew gave. Just explain to the colorist that this is for testing purposes and to insure that you can supply what he is asking for.

As far as not sending text, you could duplicate the project to a new program (save with a different name), delete the text tracks and send that program to the colorist. then simply match it up with a new duplicated program that has the text and graphics from the original but not the "body" and simply slide in the color corrected version.

BTW, joseph, a lot of us are on the Media 100 Facebook page. You'll most likely get faster responses by posting there.
