Anybody having this problem? I have Media 100i 8.2.3 (running on an old G4 and purring like a kitten). I have FCP 7.0.3 (running on a MacBook Pro with a Matrox MX02 LE and purring like a kitten).

I have M100 Codecs loaded in FCP and I have moved footage back and forth with no problem ( yes, there is some rendering, but I can make it work).

Now, I did the dreaded QuickTime 7.6.6 Update and now QuickTime doesn't see the Media 100 files as movies anymore-audio plays with blank screen.

I've tried re-installing the M100 codecs but no luck. I've Gone back to QT 7.6.4 but it still doesn't work.

Any thoughts?

I have tons of legacy footage so this is a big issue for me...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DL

Unfortunately downgrading QuickTime is not something Apple intended you to do. Most likely some code fragments are left untouched, so you still see these issues, I guess.

MacOSX 10.7.2 does fix the problem, so if you are on 10.7.x, you should update to the latest release to get this working again. If you are on 10.6.x, you either need to reinstall 10.6.8 with the "older" QuickTime version, or maybe consider upgrading to Lion. Or if you have a system backup somewhere from the time before installing the QuickTime update, this would be the moment to get it.

Hi Floh,
How do you intall or upgrade to 10.6.8 and still maintain access to legacy footage, MJPEG B? I'm sticking with 10.6.7 to avoid that problem, but is there a way to go to 10.6.8 and still use the "old" Quicktime? Which version do you recommend? I'm at 7.6.6 now, and with OS 10.6.7 the legacy media plays fine. I'm on the latest version of the Suite, 2.1.

I have Motion 5 and it will only install on 10.6.8 now. I made the mistake of buying it from my Macbook Pro 17, but can't get in on my Mac Pro with 10.6.7. Don't want to go to Lion as it breaks several programs (Rosetta) that I use regularly.

Thanks

You cannot install 10.6.8 and keep MJPEG-B / Media 100 i footage working. Apple broke the MJPEG-B codec with the 10.6.8 update and only fixed it again with the 10.7.2 update. So you either need to stay at 10.6.7 or move to 10.7.2

Hi Floh,

I got the legacy QT codecs (at least the Media 100 ones-haven't tried any others) to work under 10.6.8.

I deleted ALL the Quicktime files I could find (anything that had QuickTime or QT in the name).

Installed QT 7.6 from the Install Disc for my MacBook Pro 17" restarted and it worked. I can use the old Media 100 files in FCP 7.03 and they show up as actual video clips - that need some rendering of course. When I first did the re-install, I tried the videos and they didn't work, but the restart fixed that.

Not sure if this was a fluke, but it is still working for me.
