 | Can't install Quicktime 7.7
on Sep 2, 2011 at 11:12:18 am |
Hi all.
I'm trying to install an update for Quicktime. I currently have version 7.6.6 and would like to install version 7.7 but when it comes to selecting the drive where I want to install it it says:
QuickTime can't be installed on this disk. This version of QuickTime 7 can't be installed on this disk because QuickTime X is already present.
I have OS X 10.6.8
What can I do?

QuickTime 7.7 is Leopard (10.5) only. There“s no way to install it on 10.6 and up.

Just in case anyone is wondering about installing QuickTime 7.6 (not 7.7) under OSX 10.6.x, if they only have QuickTimeX, I did this not too long ago.
You'll need your install disc. Insert the DVD. When the Mac OS X Install DVD window appears, select the Optional Installs folder, then double-click the Optional Installs icon. When you get to the "Custom Install" list, you can pick QuickTime 7.
Once installed, you will find QuickTime 7.6 in the Applications/Utilities folder.
You can plug in your QuickTimePro activation code if you have one.
