This is great news, Floh, thanks!

Question: Does 1.6 also support AVCHD (the lower bit rate) as well as AVC-Intra?

[Peter DeArmond] "Question: Does 1.6 also support AVCHD (the lower bit rate) as well as AVC-Intra? "

AVCHD is supported since Version 1.5 via ClipWrap; although only as a slow import (conversion into a supported codec). The difference is that AVCHD uses an interframe compression, creating groups of pictures sharing the same compression data, while AVC Intra is a intraframe compression, where each frame contains the whole image. Supporting interframe compressed material like HDV and AVCHD natively seems to be difficult inside the Media 100 software environment.

IMPORTING PANASONIC 3700 (AVC INTRA MFX) FILES INTO MEDIA 100 SUITE

IMPORTING PANASONIC 3700 (AVC INTRA MFX) FILES INTO MEDIA 100 SUITE
What's the best codec to use ?

I have just bought a Panasonic Varicam HD camera; superb picture quality, etc.
This camera creates MFX files on a P2 memory disk.
My video editing system is Media 100 Suite, version 1.7 (intel) installed on a MacPro 5.1 (OS-X 10.6.8)
Importing the camera files into Media 100 does not work via the Panasonic P2 option, so I have installed third party software (Calibrated Q) to do this, resulting in an AVC Intra option which seems to work fine.

My question is : what is the best option to import files

Media 100 HD, 8- or 10-bits uncompressed ? This results in fil;es 10 times larger than the MFX files.
Or should I go for one of the other codecs like ProRes ?

If there's anyone who's got some experience with this and is willing to share this with me, please response. Thanks in advance.

We use ProRes for nearly everything. Definitely give it a try.
