I am taking delivery of the much talked about nanoflash very soon and I was wondering when importing 4.2.2 color space recorded clips at 100Mbps to the project in Apple ProRez 422HQ will have any effect on the original clip's picture quality and will Media 100 handle 24 bit audio recording of the nanoflash.

Thanks very much

We haven't any direct experience with the device, but I have a few thoughts re: your questions:

- The only red flag that comes up for me on the 100Mbps format is that it's "Long GOP". This could be an issue for us as we're an I-Frame ONLY app.

- We tackled a few 24-bit audio problems for the latest release, so it "should" be okay. If not, we'll tackle that one too.

Hi Wick,

The nanoflash will record in the following manner in HD:

1. 35 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:0 Long-GOP (XDCAM EX)
2. 50 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 Long-GOP (XDCAM 422, 50
Mbps and above)
3. 100 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 Long-GOP (Master Quality)
4. 140 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 Long-GOP (Master Quality)
5. 160 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 Long-GOP (Master Quality)
6. 100 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 I-Frame
7. 140 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 I-Frame
8. 160 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 I-Frame (Master Quality)
9. 220 Mbps = Full-Raster (1920x1080/1280x720) 4:2:2 I-Frame (Master Quality)

What do you think is the best way for me to record? Of course I will carry out a thorough test and post my findings but if you had any ideas now, that would help.

Cheers
