Hi there,
We have been cutting on m100 since 1997. Now we need to bring one of our old project into FCP/DSP for authoring. Is there any way to do it without outputting it first on BetaSP, and then redigitizing in FCP, and loosing 2 gens. M100i, 8.2 is installed on G4, and FCP 5.04 is on G5. Both machines can be connected via firewire.

Thanks in advance,

Vic

Why do you want to move the project to FCP? I would suggest doing your final Editing in Media 100, and then export the result as a Quicktime for DVD authoring. You can transfer the file e.g. via Ethernet, and as long as you do have the Media 100 codecs installed on your FCP system you can use the file there for encoding.

Hi Floh,
Most importantly, it is very easy to export the project from FCP to DVD Studio Pro for authoring without complications. I am not quite sure how to do it from M100. Also, new generation of editors is much more familiar with FCP, than M100.
Does M100 site have codecs for FCP? Do you have the link handy?

Thanks,

I don't understand why you need to go into FCP...What I do is output my M100 program to BitVice, and take the M2V and audio files into DVD Studio Pro. I feel like the quality is superior to that of FCP to Compressor to DVD SP.

Right, and you can also set your chapter markers right in Media100 timeline.
