You'll see a message about this in the NAB announcements, but I wanted to let you know that Media 100 11.6 for AJA OEM Hardware, Media 100 Producer, and Media 100 Producer Suite for Intel based Macintosh Computers has been released. You can find trial versions of Media 100 Producer and Producer Suite (which included the new version of Boris Red 4) on

For hardware based customers, if you have Platinum Software Updates and an Intel Mac, you are entitled to an upgrade. You will need a new system key to run 11.6. Please contact us for a system key.

If you purchased Media 100 Producer or Media 100 Producer Suite from November 9th, 2007 - 4/12/2007 and have an Intel Mac, you are entitled to a free version of Media 100 11.6. Please contact Media 100 if you have an Intel Mac and purchased Media 100 Producer between these dates.

It's important to note that this version has only been tested to work on Intel Based Macintosh computers. This version is functionally equivalent to Media 100 11.5 except now it works on Intel Macs. There are no new features that have been added to this release. We are working on a version that PowerPC Macs can work with and will release this at a future date.

This version will only be available as a download and will not be available as a CD.

Depends on what you want to do, and how powerful your G4 is. You can bring things into Producer and use its new features but then they can't go back to the old system. But if you're just exporting the program or mastering to DV, you're fine. You can get the trial version and see if the workflow and performance are acceptable on your Mac. Make sure you work on copies of your projects, bins and programs or you may not be able to open them again in 8.2.3.
