Media 100i Will Not Run
on Mar 13, 2007 at 3:41:26 pm

Hi,

Computer: Mac G4 Dual 1,25 Ghz
Media 100 Version: 8.2.3a
OS X Version: 10.3.9
Quicktime Version: 7.1.5

When I run Media 100 the splash screen comes up for about 10 seconds and then i get this error message: "Could not start the application because the Media 100 i System is locked up. Please save all documents and quit."

I used to get an error message that said "Media 100 will not start because the hardware is in use"

I had this error at the beginning but the I realized I had the p6000 card in the wrong slot. I changed into slot 2 and eveything worked fine for a day. I came back the next day and had these errors to deal with. I have tried a re-install and that did not work, I have trashed the preferences and that didn't work.

If anyone could offer any advice, tips, help, it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Mark

Did you run the hardware test? Does it run okay?
Also, V8.2.3a was never tested on 10.3.9 with QuickTime 7.1.5. So maybe there is a problem with this combo.

Hi,

I did run the media 100 test and it failed, but how do I know what the problem is from this?

I have also tried 8.1 and various versions of 8.2 with no luck

Mark

If the hardware test fails it usually is a hardware problem, not a software conflict. Do you have any other boards in the system (like a SCSI card)? If yes, try removing them and running the test again. Also reseat your P6000 board. If the test still fails chances are high that you have in fact a damaged board. Then you probably should get in contact with techsupport to explore your options there.

Hi,

I did have a SCSI card in the machine in the apprpriate slot (5) but I removed it and the test still fails.

I guess I will have to call tech support...$195 later...I may know if it is my board.

Let the fun begin...

Thanks for your help

HI,

I have the software coded to the board + all the breakout boxes. You can run the latest Media 100i software with no upgrade costs.

Hi Chris,

I'm very bad at pricing... What do you think is fair? I also have the Magma Extension Chasis for a G5 (regular PCI slot) if you're interested.

To be safe, tell us what software you have installed along with Media 100.

For example, I've had very bad luck installing Avid Xpress pro and Media 100 on the same system before...
Sometimes even installing the Avid Codecs has caused problems.
(this holds true for Media 100i, Media 100 HD Suite and even with Final Cut Pro)
I found it was codec-related when I went back and looked at my crash logs.
Removing Avid fully (uninstall, not just drag to trash) solved my issues.
