Can some one explain the Duel Boot concept. Do you need 2 drives? How would you switch?

Thanks

I created a dual boot system by adding a second SATA internal drive to my Mac G5 Quad. In system preferences you can highlight which drive you want to start up with, or if I remember correctly you hold doen the option key as you start your system, and then you can choose which drive to use.

I put an identical OS on each drive, but in my case I have Media 100 Hde on one drive and FCP on the other. It works great! The concept isto avoid conflicts with programs and drivers by using two drives. Hope that helps.

Hi Greg,

I saw your post about having both Media100 HDe and a FCP system. I'm considering an upgrade from Media100i to HDe or SDe. I was wondering if you wouldn't mind telling me how you like the new Media100?

Thanks
Russ

Hi Russ

I have a quad g5 with a duel boot arrangement. I run M100 HDe and FCP works great. As for M100 it's better than it's ever been. I use it more than FCP because it's no nonsense and extremely efficient to edit with.

Of course FCP studio comes with a bunch of toys that come in useful from time to time. So having the duel boot system gives you the best of both worlds. But if someone asked me which single edit suite would I take to desert Island, I'd go M100 everytime.

Cheers
TB
