Before I started using Media100SW on a G5 Quad I could export video as Media 100 NTSC-720 and it would playback fine in Media 100i but now exports are about 25% too dark but look fine while editing. I digitized the video in Media 100i. Also where ever I haven't inserted a black clip on the clean timeline, I get a Blue background. I tried using the Media 100i compressor in Media 100SW but I get the same result -too dark. Tried exporting bars from SW installed on the G4 (different copy of SW 10.2.1) Media 100i compressor. result:same blue background and dark video through Media 100i.

Is this a Media 100i card issue?

How do you export? As "Self Contained"? Or as a QuickTime file with Media 100 i codec? There was an issue with video levels when using the QuickTime export in 10.1.x and 10.2.x; you should upgrade to V11.5 of Media 100 sw/Producer and try the export again. Anyway, when exporting as Self contained you should see no color and luma shift regardingless of which version you use.

I export as a quicktime file with the media 100i codec.

I bet Producer is the answer...maybe it handles "color range" better ;->

Thanks once again Floh

Export as "Self Contained" (assuming that you have everything in the Media 100 i codec). This should give better quality (no recompression), it should be faster and it should not change the color/levels.

OK but the import into Media 100i takes more than an hour...

[hbvideo] "OK but the import into Media 100i takes more than an hour..."

You should avoid "gaps" in your timeline. As far as I know this "slow import" into Media 100 i only happens if the timeline you are exporting contains empty areas, which are exported in a clever way to save space, but they mean a slow import for Media 100 i systems. If you have spaces in your timeline where you need black, do yourself a favor and take a black Pict, import it into Media 100 and place it there. Maybe using a "black clip" created in Media 100 does work also, but I have to admit that I did not try it.

OK, I went ahead and got Producer and happily and thankfully its color range adjustment made the exports via Quicktime show up properly and only take 4 minutes to import. Using the media 100 HD uncompressed gave good quality too. Thanks for the tips Floh!
