How does this new product interface with current owners/users of Media 100 HD? Is it just a software purchase? If we're using the current HD boardset and breakout box (along with audio AD-DA's we had to purchase since it wasn't built in), how do we utilize Version 11 and, more importantly, what features will we *not* get by staying with the current HD boardset? Are our breakout boxes updatable, or do they need to be updated? If certain features won't be availble due to current HD hardware/breakout box, will M100 offer some kind of exchange program?

Regarding codecs: according to the tech specs, we can now seamlessly mix codecs in the same SD timeline, where the system's native 10-bit uncompressed media can be combined in real time with images created with other codecs including Animation, DV, 8/10-bit Uncompressed 4:2:2, DVCPro, DVCPro 50, DVCPro HD and our own 844/X and Media 100 i MJPEG. Does that mean we can *digitize* in those formats natively (i.e. - are they available as selectable formats for digitizing), or merely integrate files digitized on other systems?

As far as I can see there are two Media 100 platforms, the HDx and the Aja based boards. Both will work with V11 with the new features, like the support for additional codecs. But while they use exactly the same software they have different underlying hardware platforms, which provide different features. E.g. the HDx has SD to HD realtme upconversion which the HDe does not have, but the Aja boards have analog audio outputs which the HDx does not have. Plus, the two hardware platforms work on different PCI subsystems (PCI-X with HDx and PCI Express with the Aja based systems) that are not exchangeable; PCI-X boards won

I'd like to know if the new AJA capture process (not the vincent or p6000) handles the color the same way. Will the colors be as rich as they used to? That was one of the great qualities of the old M100 had over other systems. Just a thought! Chris
