Can you offline in SD and master in HD?

We're about to start our first HD project on the M100HD system.

We are using 1080i sf 23.98 masters and aquireing them into the M100HD system via a HDW-F500 deck that gives us the converted 1080i 29.97 timecode.

That seems to be working fine, and the time code is remaining solid it seems so I can offline and online.

The problem is the draft mode setting.

I did a test

10 seconds 8Bit Draft = 666.5 Mb
10 seconds 8Bit Uncomp= 1.3 gb
10 seconds 10bit Draft= 888.7Mb
10 Seconds 10bit Uncom= 1.75 GB

now

10 Seconds 8bit M100i 60KB = 25.45mb

Unfortunately I cannot find anyway to recapture material captured at the Standard Def media standard at HD.

If I try to batch re-aquire the SD stuff with the media standard at HD, the clips don't come up. Is there a way to force M100 to do this like re-capturing different audio rates or video setups?

Why am I forced to "offline" at such high data rates? I have over 2 hours of offline footage... It is going to be about 1/2 a terabyte just for the offline stuff...

Is there a workflow solution for this issue?

The time code is all 29.97 now so there really should be no issue in letting me use the M100i codec to capture for offline and then re-aquire in the M100Hd codec at the HD media standard.

How do you do this?

Easy. Do your edit in SD compressed, in an SD timeline.

After finishing the SD edit, choose Media->Conform Program and use the "Make re-acquirable media offline" checkbox. You will end up with a 1080oi timeline with offline video clips you can reacquire then.
