Does Mac (free) Fusion have Primatte?
on Jan 15, 2016 at 6:13:06 pm

Greetings, I finally installed a second HD on my MacBook Pro with El Capitan and Fusion 8 (free) and I don't see the Primatte keyed under the Matte tools. I read in another forum on the web that it might not be included with the Mac version as of yet but may be in the future. Is this true?

Actually I discovered with this new Beta 3 release BMD have added Primatte to the Mac version of Fusion. Wel done! :)

I see great things for Fusion. If there is a package like Nuke Studio I will be very happy to try that out. Not into compositing but I do like using Fusion to add some flare to my videos, all without wearing those silly buttons.

Absolutely. The price is definitely right! It's similar to when Apple dropped the price of Shake from $3000 to $500 and I went out and purchased it immediately. This is even more of a no-brainer. And although I love Nuke, the pricing is obviously ridiculously steep (I did have access to it through FXPHD's VPN software support and now have installed the non-commercial version).

As a matter of fact, the day BMD released the Mac version, a rep from The Foundry called me about purchasing, so they are actually shaken up by this. Also, I just attended a local user group meeting with editor Alan Bell (SPIDER MAN, THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE, etc.) in which he revealed that his main workflow involves Avid Media Composer and Fusion to a great extent. And VFX guru Doug Trumbull said that he uses Fusion extensively because, at the time, "it was half as expensive as Nuke."
