Is Speedgrade SDI Reference Monitoring Possible via TB?
on Jan 6, 2014 at 8:26:32 pm

All documentation about SDI reference monitoring in Speedgrade only talks about nVidia cards.

Is there any way to get a 10-bit reference monitor picture on an SDI-input monitor from a Mac Thunderbolt port? (without using an external PCIe box)

For Premiere, my Blackmagic Ultrastudio Mini Monitor works great, but can't fuigure out how to get it working in Speedgrade.

Are there any Blackmagic, Aja, or other products that can convert the TB signal to SD in 10-bit? If so, which models?

Thanks!

The BMD interfaces don't work with SG. You can use the AJA T-TAP which will give you an SDI and an HDMI output via Thunderbolt.

Thanks you Mathieu, I was hoping to hear that there was a simple, direct TB solution.

Do you know what settings in Speedgrade's "Settings >> Display" window enable the Aja T-tap?

It only seems to have an SDI setting for a Vidia card.

FOr that you would need a monitor with a Thunderbolt input.

Here is how to setup the T-TAP:

Thanks Mathieu.

With the setup link you showed, will an option for the T-tap appear, or will the Aja Kona 3G setting work with the T-tap?

And looking at the screenshot, do you always lose the computer monitor view of the footage when it's sent to the SDI monitor?

Thank you!

The T-Tap option will appears instead of the AJA Kona

Yes, you will lose the computer viewer.
