Burnedin subtitles with 'unlimited formatting options'...?
on May 7, 2019 at 12:01:31 am

When working with captions in FCPX I often need to deliver videofiles with burnedin subtitles for clients. Each client have their own preference as to formatting, and to meet their expectations I sometimes have to do time-consuming workarounds... For instance today I've added a thousand 'tabs' to make the background fill the entire width of the screen, which couldn't be done in any other way with 'subtitle edit pro' which is one of the many tools i've tried. Has anyone come across a tool that provides 'unlimited formatting options' both to the text itself, but also to the background color, background fill area etc. ? Thanks.

The idea is that you do the titling outside your NLE, as that is faster, and you may want other outputs as well.

Watch this video for the looks. This is Premiere, but, it 'should' work the same in FCP:

And it comes with very good support, as (disclaimer), I'm the author.

Andreas Kiel who often posts here has a tool called X-Title Importer that converts SRT, ITT files into Titles.

You can make your own Title templates in Motion and use those for formatting.

Brett, Thanks to mention my tools.

Another option is to convert already existend SCC, SRT, ITT captions to Motion Templates (user defined or with one of those which come along with the app) with another tool of mine.
