Gap between clips when copy paste from one project to another
on Sep 13, 2017 at 10:43:51 pm

I duplicated my project and I needed to do a copy paste from my previous project. Then I noticed a gap between my clips. Also some audio clips have lost synch because the connection of the audio clip with the primary story line has moved to the gap.

I tried for a sideway to do it. I selected some clips and created a compound clip. I double clicked the compound and I saw that the clips also had a gap between them.

Are there any thoughts?

Fix it in Pre.

The Projects have different frame rates?

I checked project settings and its the same. It should be the same since I duplicated the sequence. Also when I make a compound clip it also adds a gap between clips inside the compound. So even if the two projects had different frame rates what's the point putting gaps in the compound which I make inside the original project?

Now I see that its putting a gap even when I copy-paste clips even inside the same project. I guess it's some kind of gap.

Instead of duplicating, try making a new Project.

Does the footage not match the frame rate of the Project?

Do you have retiming applied?

I have seen these gaps appear before but it's when the footage and Projectbframe rates don't match, or have been placed in a Project with a different frame rate and pasted in to another frame rate. Especially when the frame rates are close , like 24 vs 23.98, or 23.98 vs 25, etc.

There is some material with different frame rate. But fcp x supposed to have no problem with mixed frame rate. Also I wanted to simplify my timeline to send it to davinci so I put all my clips to my primary storyline.
I had two ways to do that
A. with the position tool drugging down the clips
B. With the shortcut cmd+ alt+ down arrow.

Bothways there were some clips that there was no way of going straight down. The clips were going a few seconds back or forward like they had anothere place in the primary storyline than the secondary.

[Thanos Papadopoulos] "But fcp x supposed to have no problem with mixed frame rate. "

Sometimes it does.
