Sometimes I have clips I wanna connect to secondary storylines (like potential b-roll). Is there any way to link a clip so that it moves with the storyline or can you only do that to the primary storyline?

I dont want to do a compound clip cause I like being able to visually see all the components clips. It's also nice not to have to click into a compound clip to make some changes. But perhaps there is no other option....

In the FCPX editing paradigm, connected clips and secondary storylines are meant to be used for b-roll so I guess Apple don't see the need to connect other clips to those clips. I agree it would occasionally be handy though.

Being able to connect a piece of video to another 'connected clip' instead of always
being force to connect it to the primary storyline, is one of my most requested features.
I'd really, really, really like it if they put that feature in.

Select the clip you want to connect, select the gray bar on top of the secondary storyline, and press Command G. (To select them both at the same time, hold down the command key.)

Note: this only works if the clip that you want to connect does not overlap with the secondary storyline (if it begins after the secondary storyline ends, or if it ends before the secondary storyline begins).

This is in FCPX version 10.3.4. I know this is an old forum post, but maybe this will still be useful to someone.
