If I'm not mistaken, Apple was planned to do a presentation about the future of FCPX at the Creative Summit?

Is there any more info that can be shared here about it or was it another NDA-affaire?
Did they talk about this release and/or about a roadmap? More interesting bits?
Being curious ?

Thanks for any feedback.

Not NDA this time - just no pictures in the auditorium. This time, the info that was sequestered last year is now largely public.

First presentation was an overview of the new FCP X and getting to meet key players on the development team.

The second session was entirely "hands on" with multiple new MacBook Pros with TouchBars so we could judge for ourselves how FCP X 10.3 works on the coming hardware. Spoiler: It's wicked responsive.

I would imagine it is, 10.3 is super fast on my 2008 Mac Pro!

What was the atmosphere like at the event? Pretty good I would imagine!

I need some wicked responsiveness... FCPX 10.2 is too sluggish.

I still wonder though if Apple is doing a presentation about the future of FCPX, why were they so absent from te IBC and the NAB? They seem to not want to have anything to do with the majority of the world's media professionals. Or are they afraid they will only get people giving them feedback (i.e. complaining)?

Apple presented a huge FCPX preview twice at this year's NAB....

Yes, I heard there was a lot room for attendance and exchange with just the presentation... NOT! People couldn't even talk about what they'd been presented with...

They should have launched at NAB. Or better yet, at the IBC so they could have had some feedback on NAB. But I reckon Apple isn't too keen on communicating with its professional users anymore.

I have had quite a long chat with them at IBC, and so have other people I know. So maybe it's just you, Mike ? (-:

Apple doesn't do booths at any tradeshows anymore as a corporate policy - this was before Steve passed. They always have a presence at NAB, you just have to know where to look or be a big enough player that they look for you :)

It was at a Vegas premiere that I resolved to become an avid FCPX user.

There hasn't been an event I've attended in the past 3 years where someone from the Pro Apps team hasn't been around (if you know who to look for) - and who hasn't been delighted to listen to any and all ideas. Plus I know for a fact that they track ALL the feedback input on the FCP X website. Obviously with a massive number of customers, they can't possibly respond to everyone. But they are very aware of the public chatter and if you put in a suggestion or feature request it does NOT just go into a black hole.
I suspect they've gotten a zillion clueless requests to "bring back audio tracks" since release and it's conceivable that the interest in that area spurred on what we now have as the newest features. Not "tracks" but a very Apple re-imagining of a way to take the idea in a new direction. My personal semi-clueless take on it anyway.

Yes, that does make sense.

Well I dunno. I find AVID a lot more approachable than Apple.
