Pixelation in background
on Oct 20, 2014 at 8:01:33 pm

Hi all,

I'm confused and concerned with some footage I'm working with. I shot it on a Canon 5D Mark III. The background is a blackboard, and everything is well lit.

But for some unknown reason, the background (ONLY the background) is pixelated. It wasn't so obvious on the original footage, but when I output, it's bad.

Is there any workaround? And any ideas what went wrong? It's shot in highest quality, 1920x1080.

What the hey?? I'm used to my footage being so pretty from the 5D!

Any help in making it nicer on output much appreciated!

I'm using Premiere Pro CC on a MacBook Pro.

A screenshot would be helpful. Also, what did you encode the footage in (AME?)? What were your settings? Data rate? Frame size? Keyframe distance? Those options all determine how your footage looks on the way out the door. Even the best footage can be significantly degraded on transcode for delivery.

Also, where are trying to deliver this? Web? Broadcast? DVD? Blu-ray?
