Zoom F8 Missing File on SD card

Hi
I have a problem. A file is missing on my SD card. The file folders on the card are 191016 (recorded 16 Oct.) and 191018 (recorded 18. Oct). There is no folder 191017 although the recording was being made one hour prior to 191018 - red recoding light on.
What do the cow experts suggest?
Many thanks for your help
Peter

Hello Peter and welcome to the Cow Audio Audio Forum.

Does the file show in the Zoom F8?

Have you tried Wave Agent? Will it see the file?

Hi Ty
I installed Wave-Agent but did not find out anything new.
My file labeled 191018-T001 was actually the second file I recorded on that day.
I don't understand why the Zoom F8 did not record the first since I pressed Record and the red light came on and all looked normal. It seems that the F8 was unable to record that take, but the second take was recorded and logged as take 1.
I now have to work with the camera audio.........
Thanks for your help.
Best
Peter

Hello Peter,

Sorry for your woes.

The only other thing I can think of is a freshly formatted card.

I ran into a similar situation a few years ago and was told that I should reformat the SD card before each shoot. Also, there are counterfeit SD cards on the market. If the prices seems too good to be true, it might be counterfeit.

PS: Oh, Audacity opens raw audio files. I wonder if you tried that. I was sent some files to see if I cold open them several years ago from a Google employee. He recorded meetings on his cell phone so he didn't have to take notes. In THAT case, Audacity could see the files. You problem is different, but at this point why not try. Audacity is a free download.

Perhaps the clock on your Zoom F8 is set different from real time. I would look for the "missing" file in the other folders, particularly the 10/18 folder, to see if it's in there because the clock time thought it was already 10/18 when recorded.

Have fun!
