Lock clip in time when moving tracks?
on Oct 17, 2016 at 12:37:54 am

Editing music videos, clips need to stay synced to the music. Usually when I want to move a clip to another track, and stay synced to audio, I have to carefully move it straight up and ensure the cursor indicator shows 00:00 saying that there's been no time change in the track move. This is ok but sometimes adds more time with small movements of the mouse to make sure it gets to 00:00 Is there a way to maybe hold a button down when moving the clip to lock the clip time (horizontal movement) so therefore when I drag it the clip will only go up and down.

When moving a clip, holding down the Shift key will snap a clip to the point of the timeline cursor. Put that cursor where you need it, and move the clip.

Hey Roger,

Along with Dave's suggestion, you can also use the Option/Alt key and the up/down arrow to move you clips between tracks.
