Hello!

Just recently, I have started using Magic Lantern Raw (converted to DNG) for my video projects. And in my editing process, I usually use Warp Stabilizer, well, for stabilizing stuff..

But as I was using it with my DNG files, the result was rather jittery than what I usually get. I have tried to tweak the settings but still same results. Then I tried using a proxy file of the clip, and it worked like a charm.

Questions:

1. Does warp stabilizer work better on lower resolution clips?
2. Does the frame rate of a video affect the stabilizing?
3. Is there any issues with DNG and Warp Stabilizer?

Thank you and hope to hear from you soon guys!

[Lino Bernos] "1. Does warp stabilizer work better on lower resolution clips?"

It works faster. If you're seeing different results then you're probably not seeing the jitter because the image has been scaled down and lost detail.

[Lino Bernos] "2. Does the frame rate of a video affect the stabilizing?"

If you have more frames the stabilizer will take longer to analyze the footage.

Hi!

I understand that the more the frames the longer warp would analyze the video.. but what I mean with my question was (sorry I did not specifically asked this) does lower frame rate or different frame rates affect the quality of the stabilization?

Does a 24fps video stabilizes smoother than 50fps video?
Does MOV files stabilize smoother than DNG files?

Thank you!

It depends on the motion in the frame.

The frame rate doesn't really matter. The file type doesn't really matter.

The frame size does. Warp Stabilizer wants a frame the same size as the timeline it's on.
