Hello,

I am looking for a tool to process XML files programmatically. I want to give it a sequence in the form of an Adobe XML file plus the media files; then I want it to implement the edit decisions in that XML file and spit out a flattened, edited single media file. I want to be able to execute this from a script.

Does anyone know of such a tool? I was thinking Media Encoder might do the trick (using watch folders) however it seems it will only transcode, it doesn't flatten - unless I've missed something.

For context, the purpose of this is to allow a user to use a rough-edit tool to trim clips without having to go to a full-blown NLE. The tools we have only add markers to the file, they don't cut it.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

The process of transcoding flattens files.

Yeah....and in that case......in theory anyway...you should only have to place the XML in the watch folder....

the xml will reference the media location....

so the media stays in place wherever it was at the time the XML was generated....
