My basic solution seemed to be working well until I tried cutting in new material. I changed my sequence settings to 2048 x 1152, re-scaled to size all my edits- all fine- but when I went to cut in new material, which was 3840 x 2160, I found Premiere doesn't automatically make the new adjustment. Do I have to re-import my clips from my drives? I'm sure I'm missing a step- how to adjust the new source clips- which appear fine in the source monitor until I cut them in. Any help would be appreciated. I hoping not to continue to work in 4K, then exporting to 2K, which someone said might be the easiest solution. I was hoping to save some wear and tear as I continue to edit. Thanks!

Scale the 4k clips when inserted into the 2k sequence.

Thanks, Ivan- that's probably what I have to do. I was hoping there was some way to avoid this extra step with every new edit I make. This could mean me doing this a million times. I guess there's no way to avoid this when cutting 4K material in a 2K timeline, unless I guess you make proxies from all your original camera files (ideally from the outset). Does that make sense?

I think I understand what you mean, but I am unaware of a shortcut; others are welcome to respond.
