Hi,

I'm switching from Final Cut Pro 7 to Premiere Pro and I have a couple of questions.

1) In the source monitor is there a keyboard shortcut to switch from audio view to video view (toggle)?

2) Is there a way to view the audio waveforms in the timeline? By this I mean have them appear as they do in the source monitor or as they do in Audition. I prefer a waveform view over the "rectified view".

Thanks,

Gary

Thanks!

Gary

[Gary Goldblum] "2) Is there a way to view the audio waveforms in the timeline?"

Expand the audio track. Once expanded you can drag the row height as desired.

Perhaps I didn't explain correctly. I want to view the audio waveform as they appear in Audition, Pro Tools, or Final Cut Pro 7. I've attached two files. They are the same file, but one is "rectified" and this completely confuses me. I want to see the audio as a waveform (fig 1) and not rectified (figure 2) in the timeline.

Thanks.

Thanks!

Gary

The Rectified is just the top half of the Waveform.

Here I've flipped the top part down to show how it matches your waveform from the source monitor.

How did you flip it down?

Thanks!

Photoshop, not in Premiere.

Where did this clown come from? If you don't know the answer then please don't respond!

Thanks!

In Photoshop
Selection marquee around top half of audio in your supplied picture
Copy
Paste into new layer
Edit/Transform/Flip Vertical
Re-align below audio line

Is that enough information for you?

Just disable Rectified Audio Waveforms in the Sequence menu as shown below:

You are a rock star! Thank you! Any idea on question number 1?

1) In the source monitor is there a keyboard shortcut to switch from audio view to video view (toggle)?

Gary

Thanks!

Gary

[Gary Goldblum] "1) In the source monitor is there a keyboard shortcut to switch from audio view to video view (toggle)?"

See Daniel's post below.
Just type in Audio waveform in the search box and assign a keyboard of your own choosing.
You can also click on the "Drag Audio Only" icon to quickly display the waveform(s).

To answer your first question, there is no designated hot key to toggle between composite video and audio waveform views, but you can easily set it up in the Source Monitor Panel section of your keyboard shortcuts.
