So I'm working my first job as an assistant editor on a feature film and I've run into a problem. I'll try to explain it as best I can here.

The feature is being edited in Premiere Pro CC 2015 as that is what the company provides but the editor is used to working in Avid Media Composer. I spent however long syncing the audio (consisting of anywhere from 3-5 tracks) and video (consisted of either 1 or 2 cameras) by lining them up and created a nested sequence for each shot as the editor wants to be able to look at each shot in the Project window and edit with the source monitor by marking ins and outs. Turns out he hates working with the nested sequences. He wants to edit like he did in Avid where you could have a single merged clip in your Project window that held all of the camera tracks and audio tracks, edit it in the Source window and then when you pull it down into the timeline it shows up as the individual tracks (so we are able to send it off to the sound designers later). I've done a lot of searching today and as far as I can tell this can't be done in Premiere. If there is a way please please please let me know. There are nested sequences, subclips, and merged clips but none of those are what he wants. The important thing for him is that it shows up in the Project window.

Is there a way to do this in Premiere that I am missing? Are there plugins for Premiere that can be purchased to make this possible? Do you want to buy me a copy of Avid?

I'm kidding about the last question (partially). Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not going to assume that you already know about Plural Eyes. Will this do what you're looking for?

[Tyler Linden] "There are nested sequences, subclips, and merged clips but none of those are what he wants."

If that's some unsurmountable dealbreaker then you need to buy Pluraleyes or Avid.

Here's info on how to sync in Premiere:
