As soon as I connect my SSD to my computer through the 3.0 USB port everything turns to molasses. It takes like 10-15 seconds just to get my cursor where I want it, it skips and freezes all over the place. It's like this for as long as the SSD is connected. If I connect through the USB 2.0 everything is fine, and the longer time it takes to transfer files isn't really that huge of a difference.

Anybody got any clues? I googled and found nothing. Just to be clear, I'm not talking transfer speeds, I mean the whole computer runs like Windows 95. Also, I'm connecting the SSD with a USB 3.0 to SATA connector.

Anything else sharing the USB buss? Disconnect, move to another port, etc. See if that makes a difference.

Do you have another drive to verify or rule out the port as the issue?

I have 4 USB 3.0 ports, two in the back, and two on the top front of my PC. One of the ones on top has a USB which controls my wireless mouse. Could that be the problem? It works just fine in a USB 2.0 port. I'll try moving it and see what happens. I'll report back.

Do you have some sort of system diagnostic that will show how often that disk is getting polled?

try it first with the usb 2 then compare to the usb 3?

seems like it's being polled like constantly under the usb3.

not sure if that info is available with task mgr or not....

sounds like you're seriously missing a chipset driver.... either for the mobo or the adaptor.

and you really need an adaptor with UASP support or usb 3.0 won't really do much. could be a bad adaptor as well that can't handle throughput of 3.0. try it in another computer to see.
