I have a dip to white between two video clips, however above the clips I have an adjustment layer. On this layer I have auto colour and auto contrast effects, and it makes the dip to white turn to strange colours.

Is this an error, or should it happen this way.

Is there a way to apply these effects without having to add them to each clip?

Copy your sequence, so your original remains untouched.

On the sequence copy, apply those effects to just the two clips separated by the dip to white. See if that resolves the issue.

System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

I now have around 10 clips in the sequence with dip to white, so basically that's what I've done. I've copied the effects onto each clip instead of the adjustment layer.

However, for me that defeats the point of having an adjustment layer. Is the dip to white meant to work that way, or is this an issue with the software?

Your adjustment layer is also working on the "white" in the transition.

It's doing what it's supposed to do, which apparently is not what you want it to do.

Jon's advice is correct.

You could also add another layer above the adjustment layer and put in a white slug where you want the dip to white to be. Then just fade it in and out.

Thank you! I may try that as well.
