My client has a very simple but time-consuming request.
He has hours of his own personal video he would like edited down to about 10 minutes. He has already gone through the video and typed up in/out points for each edit. He has more videos for me to do after this one.
Can the timecodes he provided be entered into a format that could be imported into Premiere as an EDL? This would save me a TON of time. I wouldn't have to go through by hand and do the edits myself. If this is possible, the client could basically edit the video for me by writing down the in/out points in the correct format. Is this possible? Thanks so much!
If you think that'll save time...for you, maybe. For them...it'll be like writing code. Here's an example of a SIMPLE EDL.
They will have to know the reel name, the clip name, the IN and OUT point of the clip...and then the IN and OUT point OF THE TIMELINE for it to be cut into. And yes, the event number, and what tracks they want to include. I would never ask a client to do this...nor an AE to try to do this. Because it might not even work.
No, It'll be a lot faster to take their IN and OUT points and work on the cut. We've all had to do it at some point.
